Among the several individuals, including the German missionary Anthony Richter & Reverend E.W Richter, who worked as a pastor in Coorg in the 19th century. During their tenure of 40 years in Kodagu – The land of coffee and spices, they started schooling and made a major contribution and they are known for their work in education.
Particularly his role as principal of the Government Central School in Madikeri and Inspector of vernacular schools in Coorg. He was also an avid photographer. 
Richter had great respect for Coorgis and land in general. He has left an indelible mark in Coorgi community by his contribution in the field of education. Equally important are his recordings in ‘Gazetteer of Coorg’ wherein he covers the history, culture, customs, flora, fauna, ethnographic and many other aspects of the people in this province.
A 150 year old estate colonial bungalow set amidst 200 acres of plantation turned into a boutique resort today in respect of good samaritan is a place to experience luxury in nature & travelers seeking tranquility !
